Dear Julian,
Thanks for the submissions! What is the reason you recorded it with Audacity?

Hi Daniël
I used audacity because the java applet on the site wouldn't work. Firefox said it had started but I got nothing more than an empty white box.

Hi Jooles,
Thank you. Does clearing the browser cache and refresh the page not work? (I've sometimes this problem, looks like a Java issue.) Which version of Java do you use (Sun Java or OpenJDK and which version)?

HI Jooles/Daniël,
This might be related to the fact that the VoxForge SpeechSubmission app is a signed Java applet, and current Open Source Java Run-time Environments don't support this. For more info see this post: Speech Submission Java applet and OpenJDK.
I've been having similar problems with Fedora 9 (64-bit). I've posted my solution in the FAQ here:

Cheers Ken that was the problem. Thought it might be something to do with that but thought I had the Sun JRE already. I've now installed it (so I have both open and non-open plugins installed side-by-side) and the applet works fine now.
