Hey,

I'm getting ready an updated Julius package for Ubuntu (4.0.2 -> 4.1.2). However, trying with the example in VoxForge (the one with "dial", "call", etc.) I don't get a single sentence recognized correctly using the new version (but switching back to the old Julius it works again).

May it be because the .jconf file shipped with that example needs to be updated? If so, can someone please provide me with a working file as soon as possible? What else may the problem be?

Thanks!

Hi RainCT,

Try using "-input oss" rather than "-input mic" on your startup of Julius, i.e.:

./julius-4.1.2 -input oss  -C julian.jconf

You might try "-input alsa" or "-input esd", if oss doesn't work for you on Ubuntu (but oss seems to work with my install of Fedora 9 & pulseaudio).

Ken

P.S. thanks again for packaging this on Ubuntu - greatly appreciated!

Oh, right, using "-input oss" it works fine. Thanks!

Do you have some explanation of why I need to use "oss" instead of "mic" now?

Sure. Thanks to you too for running VoxForge and making this possible! :)

No explanation, just figured it out through trial and error... might be a bug...

I'll report it on theJulius forum,

thanks,

Ken
